About Kalimba

The mbira, an African musical instrument used traditionally by the Shona people of Zimbabwe, was commercialized as the kalimba in the 1950s. Its past dates back more than a thousand years! Keylimba resembles a 10-key Hugh Tracey kalimba, although Mbira can have additional keys, alternate tunings, and percussion ornaments.

Keylimba is dedicated to my partner Amanda, to whom it uses audio recordings made from my genuine kalimba.

How to play Keylimba

- Space (hold) plays an octave higher while using the QWERTYUIOP keyboard.
- Left Shift - Record, play, and stop the looper 
- Right Shift - menu selection
